The first thing I did was finish up the crate prop from the last sprint. I had it mostly done before but my designer had a couple of notes that I knocked out real quick. I struggled a little bit with making this prop overly detailed but in the end I think I ended up with a good balance between the details that the designer asked for and a lower poly count that is acceptable for a background prop like this.
next I got assigned a small wall light prop. My producer decided that we are going to create texture sets later on which makes sense but with this prop I was not sure if it would look right once textured. I wanted to make sure it would work as a light source in a scene so I ended up going and texturing it real quick just to make sure it will look the way I think it should before I hand it off to the level designer. I can always go back and edit it later on but I would rather get it as good as possible now so that wont be necessary later.
Another light source prop I made this sprint was the street light. This was pretty simple so I got through it pretty quick the only part that took a sec was the scale. I have a reference for player height as well as a wall height but I wasn't sure which one to go off to create this height. after quickly consulting with some of the other modelers I got it figured out so over all this model went super fast.
the next couple of models were a simple garbage bag and a pile of garbage bags to add litter to the scenes. I wasn't too particular about uv stretching in this model because they are supposed to be low detail and low poly. I like how these turned out in the end but I think I could've gone a little more low poly if I had pushed myself a bit more.
In between making all these props my producer pointed out that I should make sure they all fit the scale they should be in to make it easier for the level designer to put everything together in the future. I brought all of my models in to the to scale scene and resized them based on the player character size (in red). I also took this time to make sure all of the models snapped to the grid properly and had good pivot points. This is a good thing for me to have in the future as well in order to match any props I make in the future. I didn't run into any problems when making this reference but I am glad that I was reminded to do it now rather than going back to fix everything later.
